The Greyhound Board of Great Britain was extremely saddened to learn of the death this morning of Stuart Locke-Hart, one of its founding Directors who as the Racing Practitioner on the Board had represented the interests of owners and trainers.

Chairman of the Federation of British Greyhound Owners Associations (FBGOA) since 1998, Stuart became a Director of the British Greyhound Racing Board in September 2002 and also represented owners as a Director of the British Greyhound Racing Fund since September 2005.

GBGB Chairman Maurice Watkins said:

“Stuart attended several of our Board Meetings despite being very unwell, and demonstrated on many occasions that the wellbeing of the organisation, the industry and the owners and trainers he represented were at forefront of his thoughts. Throughout, he was totally dedicated to his office and to the people he had been appointed to represent, showing his courage and his passion for the sport.”

Charles Lenox-Conyngham, BGRF chairman said:

“Stuart was a director of the Fund from 2005 and always made valuable and well-informed contributions to our board meetings. He attended our meeting in September of this year and it was a pleasure to see him on good form despite his illness.”

GBGB Acting Chief Executive Richard Hayler said:

“Stuart absolutely loved greyhound racing. He put a great deal of time, energy, thought and money into the sport. He was a thoroughly good man and we will all miss him enormously.”
